Go to Maintenance -> Product Maintenance
There are different ways of bringing up a product to be enquired upon. The product number and the product name are the easiest to use. Products can be searched for, based on:
Products number, Product name, keyword search, Product type, Product manufacturer or Supplier.
The search function has been designed in such a way that when a user enters a part of a number or text in the relevant above mentioned fields, products that contain those numbers or text will be displayed. The user can then select the product if it is displayed or try another search option.
If this is the first time you are entering products you will need to ensure some tables have been set-up in FastBase before starting.
First - the word "Product" has been used below to refer to individual product or stock items. This word is user defined for company preference. See Utilities - Module: Inventory to change your preferences.
Types - these are necessary to define products for reporting and processing. The type is the first level of product classification. See Utilities - Types for more details. Note: the "Type" can be renamed to something more suitable. See Utilities - Module: Inventory for more details.
Categories - this is the second level of product classification and is optional. See Utilities - Codes for more details. Note: the "Category" can be renamed to something more suitable. See Utilities - Modules for more details.
