Stock Types

Enter the type and description for each different stock type. The stock types may be used to represent different product classifications, this is the primary classification for reporting and sales analysis.

Control Details

Main Supplier:
Enter the main supplier for this product type. When a new part is entered the main supplier will default to this, it can be changed as required.

Default Category:
Enter the default category for this product type. When a new part is entered the category will default to this, it can be changed as required.

Hidden Type?:
Enter 'Yes' if parts in this product type are to be suppressed from some reports, including the stock price list.

Control Accounts:
You can have different general ledger accounts for each product type if required. This is not recommended for most businesses. Stock/Inventory reports should be relied upon for analysing sales and stock figures. If they are required then specify the accounts here, only enter accounts that vary from the Inventory module default; see Utilities - Module: Inventory.

Sales Budgets

You can enter sales budgets for each customer type. These can be reported in the Customer Sales Analysis Report report. Press the 'Sales Budget' button to maintain these figures.

Quantity/Discounts

On this screen you can specify quantity break discounts and a maximum discount% for all parts in this product type.

If a product has a quantity break discount specified in the Part Discounts screen then this takes precedence over the product type discounts.

If a product has a maximum discount specified then it takes precendence over the maximum discount% specified here.
