General Details

Name of Accounts:
Enter the name used to refer to these accounts, the default is 'Asset'.

Name of Types:
Enter the name to refer to the main asset classification. The default is 'Type'.

Name of Sub-types:
Enter the name used to refer to the second asset classification. This defaults to 'Category'.

Length of Account Numbers:
Enter the number of characters the longest asset number will be. The minimum should be 6. This value will be used on screens and reports.

Length of Account Names:
Enter the number of characters the longest asset name will be. This value will be used on screens and reports.

Number Accounts?:
Last Account Number Used:
Enter 'Yes' for the system to automatically generate asset numbers on new accounts. Specify the last number used, the system will automatically allocate the next number available.

The following fields are used to specify the General Ledger accounts for posting depreciation and assets. These accounts represent the default/main accounts. You can also specify asset and depn accounts by asset type; see Utilities - Types for details.

Asset Account:
Enter the asset control account. Asset control accounts must be flagged as asset control accounts; see GL Account Details for details, refer to the Control Flag field.

Accumulated Depn Account:
Specify the accumulated depreciation account.

Depn Expense Account:
Enter the depreciation expense account.

Gain/Loss on Depn Account:
This account is used when disposing of assets. See Asset Disposal.

Asset Proceeds Account:
This account is used when disposing of assets. See Asset Disposal.

Capital Gains Account:
This account is used when disposing of assets. See Asset Disposal.
This account has been removed from FastBase for now as it is not currently used.

Link to General Ledger?:
Enter 'Yes' to link fixed assets to the General Ledger. Setting this flag means that when period end processing for GL is carried out the system automatically runs the depreciation schedule for that period and posts the depreciation journals; see General Ledger Period End.
